PAISLEY - Pattern of elaborate designs, usually predominantly tear shaped with many scrolls

    PAPIER-MACHE - Just paper, wetted down and mixed into pulp, then formed into decorative
    objects and colored on the surface

    PARQUET - Inlaid woodwork design based on squares of wood with the grains of one square
    running at right angles to those of an adjacent square

    PATENT LEATHER - Patent is high gloss finish on leather. Thick leather is split into two or
    more layers before use. The top layer, containing the natural grain is called top grain. All
    other layers are splits.

    PATINA - A change in a surface, usually to a more mellow color, resulting from age or wear

    PEGBOARD - Modern building material frequently applied to interior walls.  It is punctuated
    with holes into which one may fit pegs to hang items

    PENDANT LAMP - Pendant lighting is a general term referring to a lighting fixture that is
    mounted on a pendant or stem. At the end of the stem, there is usually a round disk shaped
    canopy attached to the ceiling so sometimes it is also called canopy mounted lighting fixture.

    PLASTICS - Synthetic materials made from organic compounds which can be molded or
    shaped into any form

    PLATFORM - Raised area at one end of a room

    PLYWOOD - Several layers of wood sandwiched together, usually with the grain of the layers
    at right angles

    POLE LAMP - Series of light sources suspended from a floor-to-ceiling pole

    POLYETHYLENE - Flexible, unbreakable man-made material used for plastic-type containers

    POLYSTYRENE - Man-made plastic that is rigid and very strong

    POP ART - Developed in the 1960's to satirize the constant visual distraction imposed on
    modern man, it derives its inspiration from such sources as popular packaging, road signs,
    comic strip characters

    PORCELAIN - Fully vitrified, impervious to liquids and acids. Used for more durable industrial
    and commercial use. Ceramic artists have a great affinity to stone ware pottery. All ADIPA
    Ceramics products are stoneware category

    POUF - Related to an ottoman but higher and puffier and at times round

    PRIMARY COLORS - The three basic colors - red, yellow and blue -- that exist "as is" and are
    used to make all other colors
