As I open the first page to the 50’s book “New Creative Home Decorating”, by Hazel Kory Rockow and Julius Rockow, there is a photograph entitled “MODERN, CASUAL AND ORIENTAL”. It has sheer draperies in seafoam, a serene slab bench upholstered in yellow to form a striking grouping with the lacquer green corner table. Also, a beautiful yellow abstract painting adorns a burgundy wall. all together the mixing of these styles is dramatically modern and casual with overtones of elegance and a suggestion of the Orient. You can successfully mix and match styles. Let everyone know what you have done or get advice on how to do it.
